This video shows 2 boats going through Wroxham bridge. The first boat gets it perfect, but I would recommend that you ensure your family are all safely inside the boat. The second boat catches the bridge.
Whoever is at the wheel shouldn’t feel too bad as many others have done the same. Also the tide looked pretty high, leaving little room for error.
On many boats it is compulsory for you to have a Pilot take the boat through the bridge.
There is a small charge for this service, but I would recommend using it even if your boat yard has not made it compulsory.
The Bridge Pilots are highly experienced and pass under the bridge at a fair pace. There is a natural tendency to go too slowly leaving you vulnerable to crosswinds and currents. Too often someone attempts to take the boat through but has a change of mind at the last minute attempting to reverse out. The boat is much harder to control in reverse and will frequently swing.

This video shows a minor collision involving a hire boat and a large touring cruiser.
It would appear that the hire boat intended turning left but would have been better off waiting until the large boat had finished manoeuvring.
As the man called, you need to remember reverse gear is your brake.
